Shell Praxter (LEASE)

from Beats Without Homes by Everybody's Hip-hop

/

about

Shell Praxter was born in 1985 and she is an Oakland, CA native. Born a second-generation American citizen with Japanese immigrant parents, her dad became a dentist and her mother became a teacher. After college, Shell got into real estate investing pretty heavily but once the stock market crashed in 2008 she never got back on her feet. Her relationship with her parents became strained and eventually they fell out. She moved to Portland, OR to DJ at small raves, changed her last name from Seizan to Praxter (her boyfriend’s last name), and volunteers at the local library. Shell fell in love with the laid-back lo-fi hip hop scene, and dreams of working with underground artists like Blu and Flying Lotus who bring that eclectic feel to their music.
