Why Low Again? Hard to say really. I guess Low because I’ve always loved The Low End Theory by A Tribe Called Quest. In fact depending on the mood, it is often my favorite album of all time. What I especially love about that album is its use of the baseline and its simplicity. These 7 beats on Low Again are very simple. They are meant to accentuate a fresh emcee. Not necessarily a wordy or super duper lyrical rapper, but an emcee like Q-Tip. Someone who can join the bouncy baseline and have some fun. These beats are also tied together by a few baselines. I didn’t use 7 different baselines. I used 3 and simply resampled them just a bit differently. Maybe that’s where the Again comes from. There it is. Behold, Low Again.
