Bill Will Witherington lived a long storied life before ending up homeless at the age of 78. He was born in San Antonio, TX, but moved around a lot as a child for his parents were both in the military. Traveling around as a military brat was fun for Bill Will. He enjoyed all the new places and people. He joined the armed forces as soon as he could and served in three different wars spanning over four decades. He retired, married and had children. However, that’s when tragedy would strike. The family was going to take a camping trip together. But, Bill Will decided at the last moment he would meet them at the destination. His wife was about to turn 50 and he wanted to pick her up something extra special. He did. He bought her a brand new Mercedes benz. He had been secretly stashing money for years. He was a meticulous and patient fellow. He finally had enough for the down payment. He bought the car and began to drive it to the camping location to surprise his wife of 25 years. Sadly, no such surprise would happen. His wife and children were killed in a tragic car accident on the way to the camping grounds. Devastated, Bill Will devoted his life to the interests of his children. One thing they all loved was playing music. They could all play piano and guitar. So, he jumped in and learned both fairly quickly. However, the grief was just too much and over many years he slowly lost the motivation to do much of anything. He lost his home and that old Mercedes benz. He lost everything. He currently resides under an overpass in El Paso, TX.
